HB - Storage of military equipment
The defence industry uses vast quantities of materials that must be protected against damage from humidity, so as to ensure long life, operational reliability and minimal operational costs and extended mean time between failures (MTBF).
HB Group dehumidifiers are in use in military installations in various countries and in many different applications in the United Kingdom, Poland, Switzerland and Denmark, including:
Ammunition storage
Adsorption dehumidifiers are installed in ammunition storage rooms to prevent humidity from damaging the ammunition stored there. This application is in effect another kind of dry air storage.
Protection of tanks and aircraft
Often, the key use of dehumidifiers with tanks and aircraft is application directly at the problem area, with dry air blown into the aircraft cabin, radar/electronics cone or the interior of the tank.
This protects electronic and optical equipment against damage from humidity, leading to greater operational reliability, fewer equipment failures and longer life.
The dry air protection is usually carried out whilst aircraft are grounded and when tanks are garaged, but it can also be carried out in the field by means of mobile dehumidifiers.
General dry air storage
Military equipment such as boots, uniforms, parachutes etc. are kept in dry air storage.
Explosion proof
HB Group dehumidifiers are all designed to be suitable for use in military type explosion proof applications. That is to say, any mechanical or electrical failure within the dehumidifier will not in any way affect the surroundings.
NB. The air surrounding the dehumidifier, as well as regeneration and process air, must be kept free of explosive gases or solids.
